Class of 1955's 55th Reunion

October 9, 2010 was the date of the Class of 1955’s 55th Reunion at the DoubleTree Hotel in Sacramento. Stan Shaver was our Master of Ceremonies and provided great mood music from the 50’s. Ninety-four people attended, which the committee felt was a great turnout. Several classmates hadn’t been to a reunion for quite a while and it was great to see those who traveled from out of state; Stan and Joanne Carper from Utah, Toinette Gish Near and Jackie Verthien Sachse and husband Bill from Washington, and Marcia Wagenhals Cobb and husband Randall from Oregon. Stan Gilliam from the faculty came with his assistant, Rina Muzzi. He always tries to make our reunions, and we cherish him and the delightful memories we have of him as students.

There was a great display of memorabilia put together by Deb (Dolores) Brown Johnson and Chloe-Shi Miers Ledbetter, gathered from many of our past reunions. Sadly, they had to add many more names to the deceased classmates display since our last reunion in 2005.

We had a photographer take candid and posed pictures (105 in all) and you can see them and order individual pictures on her website: www.kathysimages.smugmug.com or order them all in book form from the Blurb website at: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore and then in the blank box that shows up, type in: kathysimages. That will bring you to the book that contains approximately 70 pictures (she took duplicates of some). The cost for the individual pictures depends on the size you want. The soft cover book is $35.82 which includes tax and shipping.

Many thanks to committee members Shirley Abila Huckaby, Deb Brown Johnson, Diana Cartwright Lee, Maxine DaCosta, Marlene Hayer Bastian, Pat Lee Jacobsen (our indispensible treasurer), Earl Mattock, Chloe-Shi Miers Ledbetter, Stan Shaver, and Marcia Simms Gerwer.

If any of you have ideas for our next gathering, whether it be next year or five years from now, contact me at kennedy-b@sbcglobal.net, or any committee member. It was so great to see all that came, and thank you for your support!
